Thanks, Dellis, I hope that I can make enough noise on the local level to create a base from which to take my message farther. Only time will tell.
C-P, you bring up a point that I speak to every chance I get. I would suggest that each married couple who reads this post, and also has to have both persons working, take the time to look at their payroll stubs. How much money is taken from you in taxes, at all levels of government? Then figure out the "fees" (just taxes by another name) and surcharges that you pay on all government services. This also applies to private sector bills (the government taxes them and it is passed on to you). How much do all of these taxes/fees add up to? Is it enough to pay another person's salary? Imagine if you had been allowed (I use the word 'allow' for a reason) to keep all the money you had earned. Would both husband AND wife HAVE to be in the workforce? Could mom actually stay at home and rear the children without making numerous sacrifices to do so?
I just found out that the members on our Board of Supervisors make over $32,000 a year for a part-time job. They have sometimes as many as two meetings per month. They enjoy a secretary provided by the taxpayers, as well as having the cost of all communications (e-mail, snail-mail, phone, etc.) covered by the county (see taxpayers). Pretty cushy, huh? I plan to propose a pay cut if I make it to the board. There is no reason why the taxpayers should be paying that kind of money for part-time "servants."
I plan to take my message as far as I can, in the hope of making the electorate start THINKING about their responsibility in our Republican form of government. This is a topic that I am very passionate about. Our Constitution means what it says and is not a "living document" that needs to change with time. The beauty and genius of that document is that it transcends time. Technology may change, but the human animal does not. Truth, deceit, evil and good have always been with us and always will. With our Constitution and with good, honest people in office, we need not fear our government. Alas, that has not been the case for far too many years.
I apologize for pontificating so much, but this is something that is very important to me.

You forgot that a lot of the people on the program are women with children. They spend most of thier free time looking for some pice of crap gangster lowlife (usually on probation) man to get them pregnant, drink a 24 can case of beer each day, and say, "I'm looking for a job but nobody will hire me because of my record and gang tattoos on my face.". These poor women are dependant on us to buy thier PS2's, fifty games, and a hundred DVD's to keep them busy while thier "man" looks for work (and by saying "looking for work" I really mean smoke Methamphetamine).
KEEP PAYING TAXES SUCKERS!!!!!!!
HiTechRedneck wrote: | You want parents to take some responsibility for their childrens' education??? Are you nuts??? Alot of parents are already responsible for cashing their welfare checks, wisely spending their food stamps, paying the $10 a month rent for their subsidized house or apartment, picking up their weekly unemployment check, and signing the right forms to get free utilities... Just how much more responsibility do you think we need to lay on these poor people??? Just because you and I, along with many others, choose to work for a living, pay our taxes and bills, and raise our kids, doesn't mean that everyone should have to... I mean damn, what would this world be like if everyone took responsibility for themselves and their kids??? What would we do with all the lawyers and democrats???
Just my opinion... |
